The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in the middle of a love affair with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The future Hall of Fame signal-caller doesn't have any other reported options for the 2025 season, aside from the prospect of playing in the Steel City. The Super Bowl champion could potentially retire, but the NFL world is expecting him to play for Mike Tomlin. As the NFL Draft approaches later this month, the only legitimate starter under center for the team currently is Mason Rudolph. So many have theorized however, that Rodgers and the Steelers already have a secret deal in place that simply hasn't seen pen be put to paper just yet.

At some point, the Steelers won't be able to wait any longer for Rodgers to officially sign. Every team in the NFL needs an answer at the quarterback position heading into the summertime. If Pittsburgh heads into the 2025 NFL Draft without a commitment from the 41-year-old, then all bets are likely off for any deal that may or may not be in place.
Respected NFL insider James Palmer gave an update on things that he is hearing from around the league and noted that the brass in the Steel City is still being patient, but maybe not for too much longer.
"As of right now, everybody is being patient," Palmer said. "My understanding is there's some people in that building that are losing some of their patience. Some of them may be in that locker room as they sit and wait for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision."
It's fair to assume that someone within the Steelers' front office could potentially be sick of the delay when it comes to Rodgers' decision. While the veteran doesn't really have another option, he could start to feel the pressure soon, according to Palmer.
"People still believe [Pittsburgh] is the most likely landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. The way this impacts things - they'd like that answer and they may start pushing him, to my understanding, as we approach draft week."
It would be better for all parties if Rodgers simply made a decision soon. He could retire, sign with the Steelers, or take his chances and wait for a contender's quarterback to go down with an injury in the fall.

Palmer eventually went as far to suggest that Rodgers is going to start feeling some heat from the Steelers. With just around two weeks until the 2025 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh could reach for a signal-caller if Rodgers doesn't agree to be some kind of bridge quarterback.
"We are starting to have some sort of clock," Palmer said. "The Steelers didn't want to put one on it, but it looks like we're starting to have some sort of clock now on where this is going to go. Deadlines make things happen. The draft week is potentially, in a lot of people's minds, a deadline for Aaron Rodgers."
Per Palmer's words, it was never in the plans to put a clock on Rodgers, but time is now running out. Tomlin and General Manager Omar Khan can only wait so long for the quarterback to make his decision. He may be a future inductee in Canton, but that means nothing in Pittsburgh as the organization attempts to figure out the most important position in all of sports.

Steelers Can't Continue To Mess Around With Quarterback Position
The retirement of Ben Roethlisberger wasn't looked at as a big deal at the time because of his age, but Pittsburgh has yet to have a legitimate solution since. If Rodgers does decide to come play for Tomlin, it will just be another likely Band-Aid, but a presumably strong one, as the four-time MVP could lead the offense in more ways than one. Overall, the fan base is tired of going through this each offseason since Roethlisberger hung up his cleats, and the impatience is growing in the Steel City.
