"We're only speculating here," Schefter said. "But I think part of the delay is waiting to see if something does come open [in Minnesota]. Like, all of a sudden there is a change of thought. They decide that they're going to move in that direction, whatever it may be. And so as long as he hasn't made a decision, and I would guess that, yeah, he does have some hope that that could suddenly open up."

Schefter acknowledged that while the Vikings have not made any official moves yet, Rodgers is known to be a player who keeps his options open. He also pointed out that Rodgers may be waiting for a potential shift in the Vikings' plans, which could be a game-changer for Pittsburgh.

"If he's not signed in Pittsburgh by next week, I think there are a lot of questions that all of a sudden come into play even more so," Schefter said.
