National Pundit Slams Steelers Regardless Of Disastrous Quarterback Situation: "Third Place"

The Pittsburgh Steelers currently find themselves with depth issues on offense. The new-look Pittsburgh quarterback room now features Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and sixth-round draft pick, Will Howard. The Steelers will continue to monitor both the trade and free agency markets as Pittsburgh attempts to add a veteran arm to the offense. One name that continues to emerge as a starting option for Pittsburgh is four-time MVP, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, who spent the previous two seasons with the New York Jets, is a player that is far past his prime, but he could still add some major firepower to a lackluster Steelers' offense.

As the Steelers continue to prepare for the start of training camp, many fans have expressed their frustration and concerns with the current state of the Steelers' offense. Most notably, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd weighed in on Pittsburgh's quarterback situation, claiming Pittsburgh is more than likely a third place team due to its offensive woes.

"I really don't care where he goes." Cowherd stated. "If he retired [then] great, if he goes to Pittsburgh fine, they're a third place team, I don't really care. He has some personal drama situations in his life, I could have some sympathy for that but I don't really care. If you're in the league and if you work in the league, if he just retired, how would Pittsburgh view him? If they were caught off guard."

Rodgers, who continues to weigh all of his options including retirement, is a 20-year NFL veteran and future Hall of Fame quarterback that may prove to be a major addition to the Steelers' offense. Howard, who was drafted with the 185th overall pick in the sixth round, is a five-year college veteran who split time between Kansas State and Ohio State

The former Buckeye won a National Championship in his last season at Ohio State, as Howard continues to turn heads prior to the start of training camp. With Rudolph currently slated as the Steelers' starting quarterback and Rodgers' continuing to evaluate his options, the Steelers are expected to keep all options on the table and may even turn to Howard in week 1.

Steelers' Offensive Woes Remain A Major Concern

With multiple questions remaining unanswered at the quarterback position, the Steelers find themselves with depth issues in the wide receiver room as well. After trading star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers receiver room now consists of DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin lll, Robert Woods and Roman Wilson

Metcalf, who was acquired by Pittsburgh from a trade with the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason, is expected to make a major impact on the Steelers offense. With Metcalf cementing himself as the Steelers' clear cut wide receiver one, Pittsburgh is expected to acquire veteran depth in hopes of establishing a true wide receiver two.

With a select amount of big name receivers still available in free agency, the Steelers are expected look into multiple veteran players. One name that may emerge as a legitimate option is former Buffalo Bill Amari Cooper. Cooper, who was traded to the Bills last season from the Cleveland Browns, is a former Pro Bowl wide receiver that would make an instant impact on the Steelers' offense.

With multiple questions in both the wide receiver and quarterback rooms remaining unanswered prior to the start of training camp, the Steelers are expected to find a solution at both positions sooner rather than later. While all options currently remain on the table, the Steelers may turn to the talent that is already on the roster, as Howard continues to shine and fight his way toward a starting role.
