The Pittsburgh Steelers have had an interesting offseason so far in 2025, and General Manager Omar Khan has made a few daring moves. The acquisition and extension of DK Metcalf prior to free agency opening up was a great deal, but it also made George Pickens expendable. This was seen a couple of months later as the young wide receiver was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, which infuriated a large portion of the fan base. The trade was the right move due to Pickens' behavior and the fact that he was coming up on the final year of his contract, but now Pittsburgh finds itself needing another offensive weapon.

Metcalf is one of the better wide receivers in the league, but he is going to need some help on the offensive side of the ball. It was reported recently that the Steelers have been working the phones across the league trying to acquire another play-maker, which is absolutely necessary. Khan pulling off another trade for a wide receiver would be great to see, especially since Pittsburgh is likely going to try to acquire a franchise quarterback through the 2026 NFL Draft.
An interesting name to watch could be Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. The superstar has had moments where he has clearly seemed as if he wants out of Miami, and that could come to fruition after June 1st passes due to contractual reasons, which was pointed out by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
"That could change in a couple of days." Florio wrote. "Given the realities of Hillβs contract (re-done in 2024), it makes sense for the Dolphins to hold Hill until June 2 or later. Thatβs when the cap consequences can be spread over two years. For now, Hill has $28.296 million in unallocated bonus money that will hit the cap. A pre-June 1 trade means all of it lands in 2025. A post-June 1 trade limits the 2025 dead money to $12.728 million, with the remaining $15.568 million landing on the cap in 2026."
Essentially, if Miami would have traded Hill on June 1st or earlier, the dead-cap hit would have entirely taken place in 2025. By waiting, the executives in Miami make the blow a little bit better for themselves by allowing themselves to spread out that dead-cap charge over two seasons.

Hill is under contract through the 2026 season, and he has publicly spoken about how he might want to retire once his current contract expires. This should hurt his trade value for the Dolphins, which could make him cheaper after June 1st passes. Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier was very candid when speaking about Hill's situation, and he basically told the media he isn't going to consider trading the receiver unless it is for two first-round picks.
That is unreasonable. Hill is now 31-years old, and his off the field issues are enough to top his value out at a second-round pick. He had a down year in 2024, and there is no world where a team would be willing to fork over multiple first-round selections. The veteran also won't be fully healthy until sometime around training camp as he continues to recover from a wrist injury that needed two surgeries.

Steelers Could Also Keep An Eye On Jalen Ramsey
Miami is also in a similar situation with star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey is under contract through the 2028 season, but he has requested a trade and all signs point to that request being fulfilled. It is unclear where he will end up, but his contract is set up in the same manner where it would be better for Miami to wait to deal him until after June 1st.
Pittsburgh doesn't necessarily need a cornerback, but if Miami is willing to take on a good portion of the guaranteed money on the deal, it is definitely something to consider as long as the organization doesn't have to give up too much draft capital.
