The Pittsburgh Steelers bounced back in convincing fashion in Week 14 on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, winning the fierce division rivalry game 27-22 at M&T Bank Stadium. The Steelers needed a big-time performance like that following a brutal showing in Week 13 at home against the Buffalo Bills. Chants of “Fire [Mike] Tomlin” and boos for the popular Steelers anthem Renegade rang out at different points through the Steelers' most recent home game, so beating the Ravens certainly quieted the storm for the time being.

However, the Steelers are not out of trouble just yet when it comes to the pulse of their fans and fan sentiment with how things have worked out thus far this season. The Steelers will welcome a hot Miami Dolphins team into Acrisure Stadium for Monday Night Football for Week 15 and cannot afford to slip up after regaining their lead in the AFC North. They also will welcome in former teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick as he returns to Pittsburgh for the first time since being traded back to Miami for Jalen Ramsey. In fact, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, joined sports radio 93.7 The Fan’s PM Team with Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller on Wednesday to discuss as much.
The hosts spoke about the weekly chat from insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, to which Dulac provided his take on matters with fan frustration around the team in the 2025 season. Dulac mentioned that he talks to Art Rooney II a lot and that the fan anger “probably does not register since they are one of three teams that have been in first place since Week 1.” While that is not entirely accurate, as the Steelers were not in first place in Week 2, they have been in first place for most of the season.
"If this thing goes off the rails Monday night against the Dolphins, who knows what kind of chants we’re going to hear," Florio said. "Who knows how loud it’s going to be? But if the owner is just living in some delusional dream world, that’s not good for anybody. I think it's ridiculous to act like the Bills game didn't happen, like the, 'Fire Tomlin' chants didn't happen, like the booing during Renegade didn't occur... After that Bills game, during that Bills game, the fan base was as close as its been to torches and pitchforks as they’ve been in years."
Steelers Fans Still Feeling Uneasy In 2025
The fan sentiment around the Steelers has turned around to be more optimistic following their win in Baltimore, but fans still remain cautious considering the recent history of Tomlin coached Steelers teams. For years, the Steelers tend to finish just above a .500 record and turn in a less than competitive effort in the first round of the playoffs. Sunday's win in Baltimore was a massive help and step in the right direction towards claiming the AFC North crown, but there is still work to be done.

That work does not stop with the Dolphins coming to town on Monday. Miami has won five out of its last six games as they enter Monday night's game and have a puncher's chance to make the playoffs in the AFC as well.
The Steelers sit in the driver's seat to win their division now and do control their own destiny moving forward. This positioning does have the frustration of the fans grounded for the moment. A win on the road in Baltimore in a pivotal divisional showdown will do that for a fan base. The Steelers cannot repeat their previous home performance, though, or the chants and the boos that Florio eluded to, may become louder and louder on Monday night.

The good news for the Steelers as they enter Monday night is they expect to see safety Kyle Dugger return per initial indications by Tomlin. They also may see the return of first-round rookie Derrick Harmon to give their defensive front a boost. This news is significant, as the Steelers will look to slow down Miami's versatile running back De'Von Achane, an area in which they struggled in their previous home game against the Bills.
