The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up to try and continue moving in the winning column with a Week 15 matchup at Acrisure Stadium against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are not to be underestimated, as they have turned their season around and are in need of a win against the Steelers to keep their own playoff hopes alive. The Steelers, now 7-6 on the season, also need a victory to build momentum in the AFC and strengthen their position heading into the final stretch of the season.

On Thursday, Steeler Nation was hit with a big scare involving their superstar pass rusher, TJ Watt. The team revealed that Watt was hospitalized on Wednesday after experiencing discomfort in his lungs at the practice facility. He did not participate in practice on Thursday, and his status for Monday night’s game is now uncertain. Naturally, fans are far more concerned about Watt’s health than when he might return to the field, and the Steelers’ medical staff has been keeping a close eye on the situation.

Not everyone, however, is approaching the news solely from that angle. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, now 42, reacted to Watt’s health scare while speaking with the media on Thursday. Rodgers acknowledged the seriousness of the situation but also expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and ability to handle adversity. While Watt’s health remains the top priority, Rodgers’ comments offered a glimpse into the team’s mindset as they look to secure a critical win against a dangerous Dolphins squad.

"I haven't talked to TJ, but I would never bet against anybody in the Watt family of being able to deal with something small or large and getting back on the field as quickly as possible," Rodgers said on Thursday, reacting to the crushing news surrounding Watt.

Rodgers himself has dealt with injuries over the past few seasons and knows all about the challenges of returning to the field. He is also well aware of the type of player and competitor Watt is and knows that if Watt has any chance to return sooner, he will. That said, Steelers fans, along with Rodgers and everyone in the locker room, want Watt to prioritize his health, which he did. Now, Steelers fans continue to send Watt good thoughts as they eagerly await updates on their superstar pass rusher.

Another Steelers standout pass rusher, Alex Highsmith, has been playing at a high level this season and also reacted to the news about Watt.

"It's a scary situation, a tough situation," Highsmith said. "I've just been praying for him."

Highsmith, like Rodgers, recognizes both the seriousness of Watt’s health situation and the competitive drive that makes him one of the league’s top defensive players. His response reflects the respect and concern teammates have for Watt while emphasizing the importance of staying focused on the team’s goals.

Steelers Will Need The Leadership Of Aaron Rodgers During Tough Time

With Watt’s status uncertain, the Steelers face a critical stretch of games, but the resilience of the team and the leadership of players like Rodgers and Highsmith provide a sense of stability. Fans remain hopeful that Watt will recover quickly while the team continues to push toward its playoff aspirations.

Rodgers had fans concerned heading into the 2025 season about whether he would be a strong leader or a distraction because of his polarizing nature. He quickly made it clear that he was going to be an exceptional teammate and leader in the Steel City. Now he has the opportunity to guide the team through a difficult and challenging moment while their superstar is in the hospital.

Can Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers rally around TJ Watt and turn this moment of concern into a spark for a playoff push? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments below! Please feel free to share your Steelers takes with me on X @anthonyghalkias and follow me. I will respond!
