Patrick Queen Leaks Jalen Ramsey's Intense Message To Steelers' Defense Amidst Two-Game Winning Streak

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of two big wins over the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins. The franchise sits at the top of the AFC North with three games remaining, and the group has a good chance of winning the division and clinching a spot in the postseason. The Steelers had a rough stretch going in the middle of the season, but the team has bounced back well and played better on both sides of the ball. The defense in particular has been impressive, and that unit was worried about by many going into a game on Monday night against Miami's rushing attack.

Pittsburgh's defense played well in Baltimore in Week 14, but the unit was more opportunistic. The group still gave up a good amount of rushing yards, but timely plays were made in order to secure the win. In Week 15 against Miami, the group played a more complete game and held the Dolphins to just three points for the most of the contest. The unit also bottled up the run pretty well, which was a concern prior to kickoff.

Inside linebacker Patrick Queen recently joined LeSean McCoy and Emmanuel Acho on Speakeasy, and he shared Jalen Ramsey's message to the defense while the group was struggling.

"Jalen was just talking about that this past week," Queen explained. "He was like, 'We've got the names bro, but why are we not playing like us? We've just got to go out there and do what we do, do it at a high level. Just trust the man next to you. Whatever the call is, just play the call and do it to the best of your ability and we're gonna be fine. Because we've got playmakers in every single position, so there shouldn't be no excuse.' That stuck with us, and then we just went out there in practice and just tried to dominate in practice every single time."

Ramsey is only in his first season with the Steelers, but it has been clear that he is one of the leaders on the defense. He has been a consistent player for the unit, and his play took a leap after he switched to safety full-time in 2025. He delivered a message to the defense that probably instilled some confidence in the group, despite the fact that the unit has not had the dominant season that it has wanted to.

The Steelers' defense has been in the bottom half of the league statistically throughout the 2025 season. There have been some good performances mixed in throughout the campaign, but the group has struggled to find consistency. Ramsey's message was correct as Pittsburgh has studs in each position group on that side of the ball. Guys just need to believe in themselves, and in one another, and the good plays will come. Monday night was a perfect example of that. The group played a dominant game, and Miami was not able to move the ball until garbage time rolled around late in the fourth quarter.

Pittsburgh saw great play from some of its best defensive players while also seeing other players step up. Asante Samuel Jr. recorded his first interception in his first start with the team, Queen led the team in tackles, Ramsey recorded a sack, and the defense was just flying around the ball throughout the entire game.

Steelers' Offense Helped The Defensive Unit In Win Over The Dolphins

Pittsburgh's defensive performance was so good in part due to the offense. The offense held the ball for the majority of the game and was able to get out to a great lead in the second half, which forced the Dolphins to be one dimensional and go away from the run. It was the most complete game of the season for the Steelers, which is why the team was able to dominate on both sides of the football.

The garbage time offense from the Dolphins makes the total stats from the game seem closer than it really was, but the Dolphins could not get anything going on offense throughout most of the matchup.
