Adam Schefter Reveals Steelers May Steal QB And Matt LaFleur From The Green Bay Packers

The Pittsburgh Steelers had quite the eventful Tuesday following their 30-6 playoff loss to the Houston Texans. Longtime Head Coach Mike Tomlin revealed shortly after the loss that he would be officially stepping away from the team after 19 seasons. Despite never having a losing season during his tenure in Pittsburgh, Tomlin’s lack of recent postseason success, including a seven-game losing streak in playoff matchups, likely contributed to his decision to part ways with the organization. His departure marks the end of an era in the Steel City and leaves a significant leadership void for the team to fill.

As the Steelers begin their search for the next head coach, the organization faces a pivotal moment in shaping its future. Finding a leader who can maintain the team’s tradition of consistency while also delivering postseason success will be critical. Amid this transition, NFL insider Adam Schefter hinted on NFL Live that something unusual may be happening with the Green Bay Packers, which could open opportunities for the Steelers. According to Schefter, these developments might not only help Pittsburgh secure its next head coach but could also position the team to acquire a potential quarterback of the future. "Last thing on that," Schefter said. "As my friend [Brian Windhorst] Windy would say, there’s something going on in Green Bay. We gotta keep watching Green Bay."

Schefter referenced his good friend, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst, also known as Windy.

Windhorst once became a meme for pointing out a tiny detail in an NBA trade that later led to major news, essentially predicting it on the show. 

That is what Schefter is alluding to when mimicking the meme Windhorst created after that prediction. This does not mean that Matt LaFleur will be coaching the Steelers or that Malik Willis will be coming with him, but it does give fans a reason to keep a close eye on the situation. NFL pundit Dan Orlovsky jumped in to share his thoughts on how this could impact the Steelers.

"If Green Bay and Matt LaFleur decide that it is not gonna work out, the first thing I would do is then call Matt LaFleur about the Pittsburgh Steelers," Orlovsky said while speaking on NFL Live on Tuesday. "I would jump at the opportunity to hire him. Then I would find a way to get Malik Willis as my quarterback. Now, all of a sudden, we are in a situation where Pittsburgh now becomes a little more relevant because they fix that quarterback void that they have."
