The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in the process of assembling their new coaching staff under Mike McCarthy. They already have a handful of key spots filled in, including a new defensive coordinator. McCarthy's first move was to bring in Adam Henry, who coached wide receivers for the Buffalo Bills, and he will have that same title in Pittsburgh. There are still many other positions that need to be filled in, but getting a brand new staff could be exactly what the team needs to thrive in the near future.

Speaking of the Bills, they turned around and brought in a coach from the Steelers to add to their staff. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Pat Meyer will go to Buffalo to be their offensive line coordinator. His tenure in Pittsburgh is officially over.
The #Bills are hiring respected #Steelers O-line coach Pat Mayer as their O-line coach, source says, an important hire.

One of the biggest questions prior to the 2025 season was about why the Steelers decided to keep Meyer for another year. His offensive line in Pittsburgh would show plenty of individual talent, but they struggled to work as a cohesive unit. In 2025, that proved to be the case again, with numerous offensive linemen receiving individual praise, but there was still something lacking with that unit throughout the campaign.

If there is any quarterback in the NFL that can hide an offensive lineman's deficiencies, it's Josh Allen. He is still incredibly mobile and hard to sack. His offensive line has dealt with its own injuries and inconsistencies in recent years, but the overall blocking has improved lately. The hope for the Bills is that Meyer can at least keep the status quo with this unit so the rushing lanes can stay open and Allen won't have to improvise nearly as much.
Steelers Had No Plans To Bring Meyer Back
It was announced earlier that McCarthy would only keep three members of the 2025 coaching staff around, and two of them were because he worked with them personally. Speaking of people he worked with, it was also announced that James Campen would be the new offensive line coordinator in Pittsburgh, which meant that there was no chance of Meyer coming back. Hopefully, Campen can help this young line gel together.
