The Pittsburgh Steelers had a rollercoaster of a 2025 season. The team found itself in the lead in the AFC North for most of the year, but the division came down to the final game of the regular season against the Baltimore Ravens. Pittsburgh wound up winning to claim the division crown while punching a ticket to the playoffs, but the team could have wrapped things up much sooner. Star wide receiver DK Metcalf being suspended for the final two games of the regular season hurt the team as Pittsburgh lost to the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, which forced the win-or-go-home matchup in Week 18 against Baltimore.

Metcalf was suspended for the final two games of the 2025 regular season after he got into a scuffle with a fan on the sidelines during Pittsburgh's Week 16 matchup with the Detroit Lions. The Steelers wound up winning the game, but Metcalf got into an altercation with a fan in the front row behind the Steelers' sideline. Referees didn't see the incident, so it didn't have any impact on the game. However, the league wound up reviewing the incident and punishing the wide receiver for his role in the incident.
Metcalf's former teammate with the Seattle Seahawks, Jake Bobo, was on Friday's episode of Pardon My Take, and he was asked about Metcalf. He spoke glowingly of the wide receiver and the role he had in helping Bobo during his transition to the league, but he also threw some playful jabs in about the incident that occurred in Detroit. Bobo was jokingly asked if he taught Metcalf how to punch a fan.
"No, no," Bobo said. "He had that already before I got there. Dude, DK's the best. And he gets a bad wrap because he does tend to lose it from time to time. You know, Exhibit A. But he took such good care of me. I've got a handful of stories, both me and Jax [Smith-Njigba], he showed us the ropes. Whole room really, great teammate, people don't know that about him."
Bobo was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft, so he spent two seasons with Metcalf. He mentioned how he learned a lot from the veteran and Metcalf often went out of his way to help the younger wide receivers, but he also threw in a few jabs about the incident against the Lions.

Bobo made sure to point out valuable Metcalf can be to a team and a locker room, and he had the reputation of being a bit of a hot head before being dealt to Pittsburgh. He has a history of getting into it with opposing defensive backs and being penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, but that was on full display against Detroit, except this time around, it was with a fan.

Metcalf will be living with the repercussions of going after this fan in Detroit for quite some time. The initial sting of the suspension and fine has passed, but he will now carry around a painful reputation. It is important to note that he has been a great teammate since arriving in Pittsburgh, but he made a mistake. He will look to redeem himself in 2026.

Steelers' DK Metcalf Now Facing A Lawsuit
The fan who was involved in the incident with Metcalf has filed a lawsuit against Metcalf, as well as the franchise over liability. He is suing Metcalf for $100 million, which is completely ridiculous. The wide receiver should not have acted the way he did, but the fan was egging him on and there is clear video evidence of that. The NFL should also face some scrutiny as Metcalf had filed a grievance against that same fan from his time with the Seahawks, and the league didn't take proper steps to avoid another incident.
