The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to make some aggressive moves during the upcoming free agency period, starting on March 11th. The new league year will provide some very interesting opportunities for the team, as well as provide a chance for General Manager Omar Khan to prove himself as a top executive in the NFL. The Steelers have been looking into acquiring a top target during free agency, or the NFL Draft, and Khan isn't likely to hold back, compared to previous front offices when it comes to fixing the Black and Gold's roster issues.

There has been a lot of speculation on who Khan might target in a potential trade, and now, a potential top target for the franchise has been directly named. If this player were to be added to the Steelers through a trade, the team instantly improves in a very thrilling way.

On the latest episode of the Kaboly and Mack show, Mark Kaboly and Chris Mack discussed which big name the Steelers could end up targeting in a trade. Out of everyone that is potentially available to the Steelers, Kaboly gave a direct name for the player he believes the Steelers are most likely to target.

"I would take [Jaylen] Waddle, probably," Kaboly said. If we're talking about trade wise."

The idea of Pittsburgh acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins has been floating around for some time, and if he truly is the top target of the Steelers in terms of a trade, he would instantly make the offense improve.

Waddle has proven himself to be a very valuable wide receiver in his time with the league thus far. In the 2022 NFL season, Waddle posted 1,356 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in one of the most explosive offenses in the entire NFL. When he gets open, Waddle can immediately torch the opposing defense, something the Steelers have sorely lacked in recent years. The franchise desperately needs someone that can present a threat to opposing defenses in the way that Waddle can, and if the Steelers are truly willing to make an aggressive move, Waddle seems like a top target.

The Steelers having an interest in Waddle is nothing new either. They had real interest in trading for Waddle last year at the deadline, and their interest hasn't seemed to of faded with time. This year, however, the potential of the Dolphins trading Waddle away is far more likely than it was last year. This means Khan might be able to find a decent amount of compensation to acquire Waddle that would persuade the Dolphins to give him up, seeing as the Dolphins' own turmoil is extensive.

With how many issues the Steelers have had with getting into a rhythm on offense in past years, having Waddle on the team would provide a huge boost that could elevate them to a top offense in the NFL. This will, indirectly, help out whoever the Steelers choose to start at quarterback this season.

They'd have Waddle alongside DK Metcalf, which together, could provide an incredibly powerful one-two punch that they have sorely lacked over the years. Even if the organization decides they want to make a move for Waddle, it shouldn't be the last of the aggressive moves to help them continue winning.

Steelers Need To Continue Adding To Team, Even With A Jaylen Waddle Trade

Even if the Steelers trade for Waddle, as Kaboly suggests, it should not end there. The Black and Gold have a lot of holes across the entire roster, and a lot they need to fix. Should Khan want to prove to the entire NFL that the Steelers are still a culture of winning, he'll need to make multiple moves to prove that the franchise is serious about winning. Adding Waddle would be an incredible start, and provide an immediate boost.
