The Pittsburgh Steelers are finished with Organized Team Activities and now have a bit of a lull before they start training camp as the 2026 offseason rolls along. The organization has been busy at work with new head coach Mike McCarthy evaluating new talent as well as seeing how it meshes with talent from the 2025 roster. General Manager Omar Khan wasted little time this offseason filling holes on the roster while also adding pieces to complement players from last season. The roster will be sorted in about two months as cuts will need to be made by the NFL deadline on August 30.

Former linebacker Vince Williams recently joined Steelers Standard with Ed Troup and Brian Batko to discuss the moves made by the general manager of the Black and Gold. While a lot of work was already done, Williams is not quite sure that Khan is fully done making moves. It may not be highly likely, but the former Pittsburgh linebacker is not ruling it out that more happens before the start of the season.
"I mean you can't say," Williams said. "You never know what Omar [Khan] has up his sleeve. I would like to say that this team is a complete team, they're ready to go compete, and they're ready to go to training camp and kind of iron out some things. But you never know with Omar man, he's a mad scientist."
While the organization has already been praised highly for the moves made this offseason, it would not be outlandish to see another move made. NFL teams are always looking to upgrade at positions, whether that is for a starting role or even something minor like a depth spot and looking for a second- or third-string player. While these comments may hint at something, another move or two most likely would not be a massive headlining type of deal.

The one factor about the approach of the front office that was a nice surprise is their willingness to move quickly to try to retool for McCarthy in his inaugural season with the organization. Rather than sit back and react as guys left in free agency, they were proactive and got to work early and often in free agency. This was especially true with the trade with the Indianapolis Colts for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.
Steelers Position Omar Khan Could Make One Last Move At
While the trade for Pittman certainly added some much-needed help to take attention off wide receiver DK Metcalf, as well as drafting Germie Bernard, Khan could take a stab at adding one more wide receiver. Despite it most likely being a depth move if it were to happen, more help in the wide receiver room would not be the worst idea. The Pittsburgh offense ranked as one of the worst in the NFL in 2025, at 25th in total offense, so they are hoping for a turnaround on that side of the ball.
Moreover, wide receiver Roman Wilson is looking to turn around his NFL career. Wilson, when not injured, has seen some underwhelming production on the field during his two-year career. He seems to have a fresh mindset heading into the 2026 season, but in a league where injuries happen constantly and even in a non-contact manner, depth at wide receiver would be big for the team's potential success in 2026.

While Wilson is a great candidate for a turnaround season in the Steel City in 2026, assuming it is going to happen is a big gamble. He had just 12 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns during his 2025 NFL season. He did play a career-high 13 games following just one played in 2024 during his rookie year. While Williams does see the Steelers being a complete team ready to compete, adding one more piece to a wide receiver room looking to turn around its underwhelming production from 2025.
