Actively Predicting the Inactive List: Week 3

By G.Stryker:

What a terrible week for injuries.  The Steelers lost their franchise quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger for the year with elbow surgery.  They also lost their starting free safety Sean Davis for the year with a shoulder injury.  Both have been placed on Injured Reserve.  Ben will not be back, but Davis has a chance of coming back in 8 weeks.  Mason Rudolph will be replacing Ben as the starting quarterback, and the Steelers traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick to start at safety.

Vince Williams (hamstring) and Anthony Chickillo (foot) were also injured in game 2 and are ruled out this week.  Roosevelt Nix was also ruled out, still working his way back from a knee injury he suffered Week 1.

Joe Haden, Bud Dupree, James Conner, and Vance McDonald all practiced fully on Friday after either missing practice or being limited earlier this week.  They are all not listed on the injury report and will play on Sunday

I track and try to predict timelines for Steeler players returning to the field. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will update on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the practice reports are issued, as well as Post-Game and Tuesday after Coach Tomlin's press conferences. Bookmark it to see how the health of the Steelers are shaping up each week.  Injury/Fine/Inactive/Roster Tracker

This week I believe the inactive players will be:

  1. Vince Williams: Listed as out, so will not play
  2. Roosevelt Nix: Listed as out, so will not play
  3. Anthony Chickillo: Listed as out, so will not play
  4. Fred Johnson: Steelers like to dress 7 linemen when the team is healthy
  5. Chukwuma Okorafor: Has sat the past 2 weeks and I predict he will again this week
  6. Zach Gentry: The swing tackle is a better blocker and he doesn’t play much on special teams.
  7. Isiah Buggs: Justin Layne is also a choice, but Layne can help more on Special teams.

Do you think someone else will sit instead?  Comment below and let us know your selections.
