Congratulations to head coach Mike Tomlin and the rest of the training staff and team doctors for giving some well needed rest to injured players and having the entire active roster ready to play against the Cleveland Browns tomorrow night! Since the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't have a bye week, last week's game against the Browns became their only chance to rest starters and the walking wounded. By doing so, the Steelers now enter the playoffs healthier than at any other point this year.
Chris Boswell is the only player who was limited in practice yesterday, but he was not given an injury designation with his ailing groin. Every other player that was on the roster practiced fully yesterday.
The Steelers also earned a boost with two players that were activated today. ILB Robert Spillane and OL Matt Feiler were both activated from Injured Reserve today. Both were starters and it's not certain whether either of them will start this week, but worst case, both provide excellent depth at the two positions the Steelers have been the thinnest.
Joe Haden is the only player missing the game since he is still on the Covid-19 Reserve List. He has the potential to return tomorrow, and hopefully he will be healthy enough to play the following week if the Steelers make it to the next round of the playoffs.
I think the inactive players will be:
- Mason Rudolph - He is still the #2 QB, but Josh Dobbs showed what he can do to help our running game.
- Danny Isidora - Since Feiler is back and can back up 4 OL spots, Isadora isn't needed.
- Jayrone Elliott - With Spillane returning, Elliott wouldn't be needed.
- Antoine Brooks
- Isaiah Buggs
If the Steelers decide to carry 3 QBs, Anthony McFarland should be the odds on favorite to be inactive.
