Dan McCullers has been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. 'Big Dan' has been a backup nose tackle for 7 years. He was a 6th round draft pick in 2014 out of the University of Tennessee. At 6'7" and 350+lbs the Steelers thought he'd develop into a gap stuffing nose tackle. Instead he spent his career as a backup with only 3 starts, 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
It is expected that McCullers will be picked up by another team.
Per NFL transaction report, Steelers DL Dan McCullers listed under "CONTRACTS TERMINATED BY PLAYER" category.
Most that end up there are PS players who sign to active rosters. Seems like Big Dan is headed to another club.— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) September 22, 2020
