Unfortunately two additional Pittsburgh Steelers players have been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list as running back Jaylen Samuels and wide receiver James Washington join Justin Layne and Arrion Springs on the list.
There is some speculation as to why Samuels and Washington have landed on this list in regards to whether or not they have contracted the virus or came into contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. According to Steelers writer Teresa Varley:
The reserve/COVID-19 list was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person(s). If a player falls into either of these categories, their club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose whether player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.
While there is nothing concrete regarding Samuels and Washington quite yet, there statuses will certainly be monitored closely and further updates will likely be provided in the near future.
