Josh Dobbs was just traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional 5th round pick. The Jaguars need another quarterback since they just lost newly acquired quarterback, and former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to a broken left clavicle. Foles was injured on the same play he threw a touchdown pass to DJ Chark, when Kansas City Chief defensive tackle Chris Jones drove him into the turf.
Dobbs joined the Steelers in the 4th round of the 2017 draft. He improved so much in 2018, that the Steelers decided to part ways with longtime backup Landry Jones, and named Dobbs as the primary backup quarterback. This year he appeared to take a step back as Mason Rudolph unseated him to become the primary backup to Ben Roethlisberger. The emergence of undrafted rookie free agent Devlin Hodges, started trade rumors that the Steelers may be looking to move Dobbs before roster cut down day.
Those rumors now appear to be founded as Dobbs makes his way to Jacksonville. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to start for the Jaguars, and since he already has an aerospace engineering degree, Florida seems like an excellent place for him to be.
