NFL Announces Cap Increase

The NFL has informed its teams this morning that they officially have a salary cap number for the 2021 season, per NFL's Ian Rapaport.

The league is taking a $15.7 million hit from its cap in 2020, which was $198.2 million. However, it serves as good news following the decrease in revenue across the league due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The number is particularly positive for the Pittsburgh Steelers who, after restructuring a number of contracts and declining to place the tag on Bud Dupree, now find themselves at about $5.5 million under the cap; they were tens of millions over the cap just a week ago.

We knew going into this offseason that it would be a difficult pill to swallow - so it's important to take the good news when it comes along. Knowing the cap number is some of that good news.
