On Monday the Steelers announced their 2017 team captains. Ben Roethlisberger was named the captain of the offense, while Cam Heyward was named the defensive captain.
It'll be the third year in a row that Heyward, and Roethlisberger have been captains together. Usually there is a captain appointed for special teams but that wasn't the case this season. Last year's special teams captain Robert Golden remains on the roster but wasn't picked.
The Steelers have had as many as six captains before, but this is the first time in recent memory that they went with two.
It will be Roethlisberger's ninth time and seventh consecutive time choosen.
