Former Steelers' Receiver Antonio Brown Shares A Private Text Message Sent From Ben Roethlisberger

The duo of former Pittsburgh Steelers' players, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown was arguably one of the most dynamic and lethal quarterback to wide receiver combinations that the NFL has seen in the 21st century, and maybe ever. According to Statmuse, the two connected for 804 receptions, 10,768 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns through the air. There seemed to be magic occurring on the playing surface when the two took the field alongside one another, but the relationship eventually fizzled and many have wondered if it were at the fault of Brown or potentially an unexpected error by Roethlisberger.

The relationship between Brown and Roethlisberger began to unravel during the 2018 season. The emergence of then #2 receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster paired with some tough losses caused a riff that ended up being non-repairable.

Brown is no stranger to strange social media posts. He has had multiple questionable posts across all of his social media accounts, and the issues haven't stopped there. It hit the locker room in Pittsburgh, then Oakland, then New England. Then it all finally crashed for the last time in Tampa Bay.  Surely at this point everyone has seen Brown quit in the middle of a game.

Unpredictable he is and that trend continued when Brown released alleged text messages from two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks recently. Today on the popular app Snapchat, Brown released a screenshot of what appears to be a conversation between Brown and Roethlisberger. There is only a time stamp but judging by the conversation it appears to be a screenshot of text messages from sometime in 2017-2018.  Some users on social media confirmed that that type of IMessage was from that time period.

"Nothing can stop u brother it only gets better ! We got to all play better, me the line, other wideouts, team efforts, everyone ! Got to keep u clean first forth most man ! U made tackles ! runs ! need u to be fresh, not touched, not doing all that," Brown typed.

Roethlisberger responded to the text, according to Brown's screenshot, having the quarterback saved as 'BB', which one would expect to label 'Big Ben.'

"I'm getting a kick out of everyone thinking there is something going on with us. We always said when you're the best, people want to knock you down!! I can't wait till we show them all up and shut them all up! We r the greatest of all time and I really believe that. I need to be better and I will b I promise. I'm not sure why my game isn't at the top right now. I think my elbow is hurting me a lot, but I'm gonna push through."

What is interesting is that Roethlisberger spoke about his elbow bothering him. If these messages were indeed from 2018 it was a precursor to Roethlisberger being forced to have elbow surgery the next season. Of course, that elbow surgery cost Roethlisberger all but 2 games of the 2019 season. A season in which the Steelers missed the playoffs by one game.

Brown ended up winning a Super Bowl because of a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A stint that was orchestrated by Tom Brady after he left New England and headed south. Those two also had a fantastic relationship that has since ended, but to no fault of Brady. Brown has repeatedly called out Brady since his departure from Tampa and the NFL.  Today he also shared alleged screenshots of text messages between himself and Brady.

"You are demonstrating very poor decisions and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you," Brady typed. "You are acting selfish and unfortunately many of those people are exhausted by the erratic and unpredictable emotional behavior."

"When I met you, you were humble, willing to learn and anxious to improve things in your life," Brady said in the next message to Brown. "In a short period of time, you have done those things and accomplished some great things. And very much on the path to success long term. Unfortunately, you have reverted very much back to a young immature man that is selfish, self-serving, irrational and irresponsible.”

Brown was obviously trying to make Brady look bad by posting these text messages, but it seems like the reverse. Brown instead looks even worse as it's apparent that Brady was still trying to help Brown at this point.
