Pittsburgh Steelers recently retired quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger is embarking on a new career as a YouTube sensation and potential guest on the series, Hot Ones. Roethlisberger shared a video on his official YouTube channel appropriately named Channel 7. Roethlisberger launched his content about a month ago, and has posted several videos for the public's enjoyment. The popular video streaming platform's dedicated channel is described as:
"This is the official YouTube channel of 2x Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Follow along as he shares a sneak peek into his faith, family, and his love for football."
Roethlisberger and a group of friends decided to mimic the popular show’s challenge of eating progressively hotter wing sauces while the brilliant Sean Evans interviews his celebrity guests. You can watch the hilarious short video of the former Pittsburgh quarterback enjoying his retirement by clicking below:
Evans and his crew have been doing the show Hot Ones on YouTube since March of 2015. He has attracted a wide variety of sports stars, actors, actresses and singers to his show and if you have never watched the program, you can catch it on YouTube here or if you have Hulu, seasons 1 thru 4 are streaming on the platform. You can also catch clips like this on Evans Twitter account:

The Pittsburgh legend's competitive nature is famous amongst his teammates. One of his friends just prior to embarking on the challenge points out that DJ Khaled is the laughingstock of the show for famously being the earliest person to tap out after sauce three. He seems intent on completing the challenge and not failing the heat tolerance challenge. Just as a word of caution to parents, Khaled's episode does feature a lot of salty language.

Roethlisberger, his wife, and a group of friends are enjoying themselves and are preparing mentally to tear into the 10 progressively hotter sauces and give their opinions on the flavors they are tasting. He may have been taking the opportunity to prepare for an upcoming slot on the show, or perhaps he was auditioning to be a guest host. The quarterback and friends begin dipping into the sauces in order and he is playing the role of Evans as different members of his friend group, including his wife Ashley Harlan, sample the heat. They comment on the various flavors and the former signal-caller appears to try them all, while enjoying a pint of an adult beverage. They are obviously enjoying themselves.
Roethlisberger has been criticized at times for not preparing for the rigors of the NFL like some of his contemporaries. The black and gold legend is obviously taking a potential appearance with Evans on his popular program seriously. His preparation to defeat the 10 challenges that would confront him is inspirational. If he falls short of appearing, he can take comfort in the fact that he will be adequately prepared for hot wings eating contests in the local area. He is unlikely to start a rival health brand to Tom Brady’s TB12, but it does not mean that he cannot rival Brady’s presence on social media. Channel 7 does not have many subscribers yet, but if he is serious about producing content, I am sure it will not be long before Steeler Nation finds his channel and starts subscribing.
What do you think, Steeler Nation? Is Roethlisberger demonstrating his ability as a content creator, or just having fun? Please comment below or on my Twitter @thebubbasq.
