The NFL introduced Color Rush Uniforms in 2015 and the Pittsburgh Steelers rolled out the black on black with gold trim look. Fans took to the new look almost from its inception, but it is rumored that not all the players who don the color rush jersey are fans of the look. T.J. Watt is not one of those players, he opined last season before the team sported the look on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears:
“I love the color rush uniform,” linebacker T.J. Watt said to Steelers.com. “I love the big block number. I’ve always been a fan of that. You get the all black. The gold pops so much.”

Several teams are updating their look for the 2022 season after the NFL approved rule changes allowing for alternate helmets for the first time since 2013. Some teams have taken advantage of the new helmet rule. They include the new “Battle Red” Houston Texans helmet, the New Orleans Saints have unveiled a great looking reversal of color, and the Cincinnati Bengals have revealed a white helmet with black stripes.

Additionally, teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots will revisit their past looks with color rush helmets and uniforms that will tap into the nostalgia of those fanbases. No word yet on whether all Patriots helmets will be equipped with go-pros, so that the coaching staff does not end up in prison for filming opposing sidelines, but Mac Jones has been seen squeezing the air out of footballs in preparation for training camp (kidding).

You can view some of the uniform changes here to see what teams are doing, but including the changes, here are my updated five favorites from 5 to 1:
5) New Orleans Saints

I love this new look; the black helmets are a great twist and the otherwise all white and gold trim is a classic. It might just be me, but if the uniforms were gold with white trim, I might make this number one.
4) Los Angeles Rams

I like the bright yellow and the throwback Rams helmet. It reminds me of Super Bowl XIV and how the Steelers and Terry Bradshaw played big in the fourth quarter. Thanks, Mean Joe.
3) New York Jets

Okay full disclosure, I am Irish, so I went for all green, but I really wanted to pick the Minnesota Vikings. But after further review, the purple just reminded me too much of the Baltimore Ravens. Green is the color of beer on St. Patrick’s Day across the USA and that seems like enough of a reason.
2) Cincinnati Bengals
Here's what an all-white Bengals uniform might look like via @SaturnStylez.
I don’t hate the Bungles like I vehemently hate the Cleveland Browns and Ravens. I have to admit though, the "White Bengal" is really cool. Congratulations on winning best new uniform to the Bengals.
1) Pittsburgh Steelers

If it is good enough for Watt, it is good enough for the entire NFL. The uniforms are good luck, intimidating and just plain awesome. Pittsburgh is 7-1 when they wear this uniform. The Steelers just look bigger and faster when they wear these uniforms, and I would love to see them in a playoff game.
Pittsburgh remains the class of the league in this department, but my only suggested change, now that an alternate helmet can be used is to consider bringing back the classic yellow helmets for a game next season. If you have ever played the Madden franchise, you know the yellow helmets are a choice in the video game and they look fantastic in an all-white ensemble. However, when your uniforms look this good, why mess with success?
