The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to get closer to finding their next general manager. Monday morning, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has reported that Doug Whaley will be brought back in this week for a second interview per source.

Whaley is currently the Senior Vice President of Player Personnel for the XFL, and was formally the general manager for the Buffalo Bills from 2013-2017.

Interestingly enough, Whaley is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and went to the University of Pittsburgh for college. He was eventually brought on as a pro personnel coordinator for the Steelers where he worked for 10 years before leaving for Buffalo.

Whaley worked directly under outgoing general manager Kevin Colbert, so his familiarity with the organization should be noted. While with Pittsburgh, Whaley helped scout and draft defensive players such as Lamarr WoodleyTroy Polamalu and Lawrence Timmons.

Will Whaley's background with the organization be enough to propel him into the front-runner position for the next Steelers general manager? We will continue to keep you posted as this story develops. Click to comment below!
