The Pittsburgh Steelers playoff run is just about three weeks away. Having already booked their ticket to the playoffs last week, the only thing that is left undecided is the seed that the Steelers will receive and which opponents will be on the other side. With a win against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers would have clinched the AFC North and be guaranteed a 1-3 seed going into January football. But with how the rest of the AFC is looking to turnout, the AFC Championship race is going to be a competitive one.
The one thing that usually separates most opponents, and is the one thing that teams look to capture most when it comes to playoff seeding, is the top seeds. Those seeds are guaranteed home field for at least the first game of the playoffs or more. Having the fans in the seats for games themselves is one thing, but when the season is on the line, and each game is win or go home, it is the biggest advantage one can get. It provides an atmosphere that cannot be described or filled in any other capacity.
We have already seen almost a full NFL season go into effect without the majority of the fans in the stands for most of the games and have seen what NFL football looks like without one of its biggest assets. Opinions may vary on how the entertainment value is each week without them, but if you ask the players and coaches, the fans absence has been missed.
With playoff football right around the corner, the Steelers hope to have fans back in the 'Burgh for at least their first playoff game of the 2020 season, where they will host an opponent that is TBD. No matter who is on the other side, the atmosphere of that game would be almost something magical for a Steelers fan. The first time fans are back at Heinz Field in weeks and the game we get to witness is a win or go home type, while we watch franchise QB Ben Roethlisberger under center in playoff football once again. We have seen the magic that he has done in a playoff atmosphere, and with the group of talent he has surrounding him this year, there is no question this team can make a deep playoff run and who better to root them on than all of SteelerNation.
