The Pittsburgh Steelers head into Week 7 on a high note after upsetting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-18 this past Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. It's unclear however, who the lead signal-caller under center will be, as rookie starting quarterback, Kenny Pickett was injured against the Bucs. He left the game in the third quarter with a concussion.

Prior to Pickett's exit, he finished the game 11/18 for 67 passing yards and 1 touchdown pass. He added 16 more yards on the ground. After Pickett's initial opening drive, the offense stalled a bit the rest of the first half, but that didn't stop a former Steelers All-Pro center from praising the former University from Pittsburgh standout.

Maurkice Pouncey joined SteelerNation.com via Twitter Spaces on Monday evening. The 9x Pro Bowler was a delight to have, as he discussed a plethora of topics, all involving the Steelers. From his thoughts on head coach, Mike Tomlin, the offensive line, and the current state of the NFL, to George Pickens, NFL Draft Day, and of course, Pittsburgh's upcoming Sunday night matchup with the Miami Dolphins, Pouncey didn't leave out his thoughts on the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Courtesy of one of Steeler Nation's very own, @KevvGee_ asked Pouncey if he thought Pickett could be the next franchise quarterback for the black and gold:

"Man, from the game I seen him go in there, I'm gonna be honest with you bro. He's gonna be the next franchise quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Pouncey continued. "He got a lot of dog, and a lot of fight in him bro. And football is an exciting thing man, and he has that... it look like he has that 'it' factor; where he draws the whole entire team... it looks like he just made the team play and feel like they was a lot better than what they were on that day, you know what I mean? So, I think he brings a lot of that to the team, and Steeler Nation has a lot of bright future ahead of them."

Pouncey played from 2010 to 2020. He played in 134 games, starting in all of them, all with the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a potential Hall of Famer and Steel City fan favorite, Pouncey's opinion still weighs heavy with the fan base. Although Pickett only has just two starts under his belt in his early career, Pouncey already sees what a lot of the rest of Steeler Nation is seeing as well.

It's still yet to be determined if we'll see Pickett in Week 7 down in Miami, but one thing is for sure, and that's that Pouncey knows there's a future with Pickett behind center for the long haul in Pittsburgh.
