Steelers RB Najee Harris Now Says He Will Play In 2022 Without A Visor So He Can See Opponents Eyes

Najee Harris is one of the most interesting characters in the league, let alone the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I say that in a great way about the young star. Harris is always letting people know his opinions and thoughts in a comical manner. This especially happened when he hopped on the All Things Covered podcast with former Steelers cornerback, Bryan McFadden.

Over the course of this podcast, Harris mentioned how he will be changing up the look on the field. Harris will no longer be wearing a visor. In his rookie campaign, he totaled 1,667 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns, with a visor. His reasoning that he mentioned on the podcast behind the new look is that he wants to “see mother******’s eyes.” Harris goes on to mention how much he wants to improve this season in regards to being a leader.

“I need to become more of a vocal leader, I need to speak up more often.”

This might seem like a non-significant move for the Steelers RB, but it could actually make a huge difference in his running. Not like he really needs it, but this might help his vision a ton. All fans know that RB vision is super important, and with those dark visors, it could be hard to see in them. With this change, Harris can improve with seeing defenders in front of him better, but especially his peripheral vision. Including this change by Harris, the offensive line will also be better in the 2022 season. It is safe to bet that Harris has a huge season in front of him.

Get Excited Steelers Fans

Steelers fans know that Harris is already expecting a smaller number of touches this upcoming season, but with these changes, it could be for the better for the young star RB. Harris is making it clear that he is doing everything he can to produce the most for the 2022 offense. Steelers fans should be excited about the mindset that Harris is bringing to the table for this team. His energy is different from what we are used to with this franchise.

While visors do look super cool, Harris was not a visor user in his college career at Alabama. In 2020, when Harris was not using a visor, he had almost 1,900 total yards and THIRTY TD's. Harris also averaged 5.8 yards a carry that college season. If he is about to bring that type of production to the Steelers, opposing defenses will definitely have their work cut out for them. With Harris being strictly business this year it looks like, I would predict that he has an even better season compared to his rookie year.

Star Players To Compare To Najee Harris

One other elite RB that comes to mind that does not wear a visor is divisional rival, Nick Chubb. Chubb has been a top player in the NFL for a few years now without wearing a visor. He put up stats last year of 1,433 total yards and nine touchdowns. Also, Chubb has made the Pro Bowl in three straight seasons. It should be a popular opinion that Harris can even do better than that this upcoming season.

While most skill position athletes wear visors, there is a handful amount that do not wear them. One superstar WR that does not wear a visor is Cooper Kupp. Kupp had an historic season last year as he put up almost 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Kupp is actually one of the players that uses a visor for practice, but not for the actual games. This could be something that we see a player like Harris do for the 2022 season.
