The Steelers have released backup rookie tight end Scott Orndoff and signed tight end Jake McGee.
Orndoff was signed as an undrafted free agent from Pittsburgh. He was waived/injured.

McGee was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Florida last season by the Panthers. He has spent time with Oakland and San Diego before signing with the Steelers.
His scouting report cites him as a big bodied tight end with soft hands. While in the SEC he recorded 11 touchdowns on 112 receptions.
McGee will wear #80.
