The Pittsburgh Steelers battle for QB1 continued on as the team entered the second week of training camp in Latrobe on Monday. The Steelers put the pads on and went to work. The coaching staff is still divvying out reps in this three-way quarterback competition as best they can.
Veteran free agent signee, QB Mitch Trubisky is still getting first team reps with the only shake up thus far being QB Kenny Pickett being thrown in with the second team over incumbent QB Mason Rudolph.

Actual game reps in preseason games are seemingly what's going to shake-up this QB depth chart, because Trubisky has been absolutely struggling to get the ball into the end zone since Thursday's training camp practice.

10 passes thrown
0 "TD" passes
(also, a failed scramble and a failed Najee Harris run)
He hasn't directed a "score" since Thursday
He unfailingly has gotten EVERY single first-team rep all camp
It has been said time and time again that this is Trubisky's job to lose. Is it time for the Steelers to alter their original plan now?

In a recent article published by Trib Live, writer Chris Adamski gave an update on what's been happening at training camp for the Steelers. Trubisky is on a streak, just not a positive streak.
"The offense did not score on any of Trubisky’s four reps Tuesday, extending his streak of unsuccessful throws in seven shots to 14," Adamski wrote in his article. "Though Trubisky has completed two passes in that time — including a shovel pass to tight end Kevin Rader on Tuesday — neither made it into the end zone. The only successful seven shots snap Trubisky has directed since last Thursday was when Najee Harris ran the ball during one of the four reps Monday."
It's not just the "7 shots" portion of camp that Trubisky is struggling with, he's also struggled in other scenarios as well.
"Trubisky’s struggles extend beyond seven shots," Adamski continued. "On Tuesday, a late 11-on-11 practice period had Trubisky go 0 for 4 with an interception (by Damontae Kazee) and what would have been a sack. The final 7-on-7 period featured three short passes at or near the line of scrimmage to tight ends or running backs (only one was completed), although one Trubisky rep of that period was a zipped-in ball delivered to Cody White over the middle. But that might have been Trubisky’s only quality throw all practice."
Granted this is the 2nd week of training camp (And the 1st week in pads) and there's a lot of evaluating left to be done, but Trubisky's struggles should be noted. With Trubisky struggling, is the door open for Rudolph or Pickett to steal some 1st team reps? It might be time to at least think about it. Especially, since, Pickett seems to be flourishing at times, getting more 2nd team reps this week than last.

Pickett is taking advantage of getting more reps, that's for sure! Our own Managing Editor at SteelerNation.com, B-Wall relayed first-hand reports of Pickett and Rudolph, both, getting the offense into the end zone.
