The Pittsburgh Steelers have named their nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award - and it’s tight end Vance McDonald.

In the wake of the pandemonium of this pandemic, causing many to be without work, without regular income, and without food, McDonald has used his position as a member of one of the most well-respected franchises in all of sports to serve the members of the Pittsburgh community.

The Steelers, whose core values are faith, family, and football, have been the perfect fit for McDonald. Because those mean as much to him as they do to the organization he plays for.

The Walter Payton award recognizes those whose impact on the field is only rivaled by their impact off of it, and this encapsulates Vance McDonald.

He has been an avid supporter of Convoy of Hope, and has partnered with them to help with community outreach, disaster response, and to distribute food. Those who know him closely describe him as having a heart of gold, and it is no doubt what landed him the nomination for Man of the Year.
