Which Ex-Steeler to Root for in the Super Bowl?

Sadly the Pittsburgh Steelers are not playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday, but a few ex-Steelers will be suiting up and some of them will earn a Super Bowl ring for their new team. The choices can be polarizing, but it is a fact we, as fans of Steeler Nation, have to come to grips with. Let’s take a look at the rosters to see who is playing and coaching.

Kansas City Chiefs

  1. Le’Veon Bell - Was one of the most talented running backs during his Steeler tenure of 2013-2018. Earned 3 Pro Bowls and 2 First Team All-Pros before sitting out the 2018 season after he was franchise tagged 2 years in a row.
  2. Stefen Wisniewski - Brought in this year to provide depth at center and guard, but was hurt in the first game and placed on Injured Reserve. He returned to practice October 14th, but suffered a setback. The Steelers activated him to the roster November 4th, so he would not miss the season under the Injured Reserve rules. He was released November 8th, and the team hoped to add him back to the roster when he was fully healthy. Unfortunately, Kansas City rostered him first.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  1. Antonio Brown - One of the most talented wide receivers in Steelers history leading the league in receptions (twice), yards (twice) and touchdowns while being named to 7 Pro Bowls and 5 All-Pro teams. Brown forced a trade due to bad team behavior and off field issues, with 3 years remaining on his contract.
  2. Ross Cockrell - Played cornerback in 2015 & 2016.
  3. Steve McLendon - Played nose tackle from 2009-2015.
  4. Bruce Arians - Current head coach who helped develop Ben Roethlisberger. Won 2 Super Bowls, and got to a 3rd during his tenure in Pittsburgh as wide receivers coach (2004-2006) and offensive coordinator (2007-2011).
  5. Harold Goodwin - The assistant head coach and run game coordinator, Goodwin and Arians worked together in Pittsburgh when he was the offensive line coach & quality control coordinator from 2007 to 2011.
  6. Byron Leftwich - Served as the backup quarterback from 2010-2012.
  7. Antwaan Randle El - Offensive assistant coach who threw a touchdown pass to Hines Ward in Super Bowl XL when he was the Steelers’ starting slot receiver.
  8. Larry Foote - Played inside linebacker for the Steelers from 2002-2008 and again from 2010-2013. Won 2 Super Bowls and played in a 3rd for the black and gold.
  9. Cody Grimm - Never played or coached in Pittsburgh, but is the son of former offensive line coach and assistant head coach, Russ Grimm.

For me personally, it would pain me to see Antonio Brown win a ring with Tom Brady, but I would be happy for all of the other former Steelers who are currently coaching and playing in Tampa Bay.

Who will you be happy for if their current team won a Super Bowl? Who do you not want to ever see as a Super Bowl champion? Comment below to let us know your choices.
