On his most recent podcast, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, Arthur Moats addressed a tweet made by another former Steeler, Rashard Mendenhall.

Mendenhall recently shot a poison arrow at Steelers' former quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger:

"If Big Ben is the 'leader' you say he is, why hasn't HE taken credit for the fall? What manager of a company goes to HIDE in the shadows when the results come in? We win it's him, lose it's me...or Tomlin huh."

Moats said that he feels that Mendenhall was hoping to reach fans that hate Roethlisberger, not the average fan that can be reasonable. He also suggested that Mendenhall knew the kind of attention this would get and that it would not be good:

"Why are you going at this guy? For every negative that seven (Ben Roethlisberger) might have it's too much positivity that he's also brought to this city, to this team, and to these fans."

It is fair to offer up critiques, said Moats, but not fair to lay all the blame at Roethlisberger's feet simply because of the type of career he had. He is arguably the best QB the Steelers have had and is headed to the Hall of Fame:

"More times than not seven is going to get the benefit of the doubt. If Ben does something negative, you still acknowledge it. With Mendenhall, to me, is speaking only to the fans that crucify him, that make it that, 'Hey man, you lost the Super Bowl.' That's the people he's speaking to."

Moats suggests that it is jealousy that fuels Mendenhall to take his bitterness out on Roethlisberger's legacy since the two players are remembered so differently:

"When he talks about how 'When we win, it's Seven and when we lose, it's me or Tomlin,' it's because he gets pissed off because he feels that negativity directly. Whereas if Seven does anything positive out there, he's going to get the overabundance of love. For him, he's like, I had a dope career, I did what I'm supposed to do out there, but I had a couple of bad plays and people act like he's the pariah of Steeler football."

Mendenhall's negative comments did not serve the purpose he was hoping for. Instead, Moats said, they completely discredit anything else that comes out of his mouth. As soon as people hear a ridiculous take like this one, they immediately tune him out.

Roethlisberger always acknowledged to the press when he felt like a game was lost because of something he failed to do. He frequently took responsibility for missteps on the part of the offense that wasn't even his.

Mendenhall has been displaying bitterness for years regarding his career. He had a few solid seasons and was a contributor, but then during Super Bowl XLV, he fumbled the ball and likely cost the Steelers the win. It has overshadowed anything else he has done in his career. Moats said it is not fair for him to put his mistake on Roethlisberger's plate:

"Ben doesn't have to take on that criticism and then turn around and say, 'Hey man, I know Mendenhall had a bad play here, but don't blame him for this, put that on me too. He already has enough on him, but I feel like that's kind of what he's asking for."

Moats believes that for Mendenhall to be able to make his critique valid, he would need to be at the same level as Roethlisberger, and he is not:

"We can all have those opinions, but to act as Mendenhall has done here, you should be on the same level as Seven. They're not in the same class, they're two different caliber players."

Mendenhall is out trolling Twitter looking for validation again and instead, he got crucified by fans.
