“Mean” Joe Greene was a cornerstone of Pittsburgh’s Steel Curtain defense and a team that became a dynasty in the ’70s.
The NFL team has lifted six Lombardi Trophies and boasts eight Super Bowl appearances, making 24 players cherished in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A couple of others are waiting in the wings eagerly, which is impressive!
Whether you ask Steelers fans, American football experts, or gamblers who play a huge list of Aristocrat slot machines and also place bets on National Football League games, the following athletes will be mentioned among the greatest players ever:
Rod Woodson
In 2009, Rod Woodson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He's also not only a six-time First Team All-Pro, but also a one-time Super Bowl champion (XXXV). Woodson was also:

Mike Webster
If you mention the best offensive lineman without Mike Webster on your list, it shows you haven’t done enough research about Pittsburgh Steelers football. Webster primarily played as the team's center, and that made him instrumental in the Steelers four Super Bowl triumphs of the 1970s.
While Webster was a also a six-time First Team All-Pro, he also made the Pro Bowl nine times. He was a member of the 1970s All-Decade Team, 1980s All-Decade Team, the 75th Anniversary All-Team Team, and the 100th Anniversary All-Time NFL Team.
All of these achievements highlight Webster’s dominance from 1974 to 1990 (1989-90, Webster spent with the Kansas City Chiefs).
Joe Greene
Also known as Charles Greene, or "Mean" Joe Greene, this legendary Steeler was among the most intimidating NFL players of his time. Greene was the heart and soul of the Pittsburgh defense. The Steelers had the strongest defense during Joe Greene’s time, better known as the "Steel Curtain," leading to four Super Bowl triumphs in the 1970s.
