Pittsburgh Steelers fans are used to the constant disrespect the team receives going into each season, and everyone is typically fine with flying under the radar and remaining out of the spotlight of the media. However, the 2022 season is a lot different. Many members of the media have been predicting the Steelers will outperform every one's expectations. The Steelers are still being doubted by many, though, and currently have the longest odds to win the AFC North, behind even the Cleveland Browns.

Steelers' predicted to lose the AFC North

On the Up & Adams Show on Tuesday, Kay Adams defended the Steelers and went on a rant explaining why they should be getting more attention and respect.

Steelers Are Predicted To Finish Last In The AFC North

The Steelers are currently the biggest underdogs to win the AFC North, and are largely predicted to lose the division as a whole with the Browns finishing in third place. Pittsburgh finished the 2022 season going 7-2, and addressed every weakness they had on their roster, yet are still being selected to barely improve at all. Adams shared her frustration discussing the lack of respect for Mike Tomlin and the organization as a whole.

"I know they have a tough division. They're getting the longest odds in the AFC North. C'mon guys. Putting them behind Cleveland? It's a lack of respect for Mike Tomlin. You heard me. A lack of respect. A lack of respect for what this team accomplished last year."

In 2022, the Steelers split the season series with all of their divisional opponents. This included beating the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1; that was in n a game that Mitch Trubisky started. Even with all the inconsistencies at the quarterback position, they still found a way not to finish last in the division. They had Trubisky starting to begin the season, before having rookie Kenny Pickett replace him in the middle of a game against the New York Jets. Pickett would become the full-time starter, but had some injury issues which led to Trubisky playing.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin handed over the keys of the offense to Kenny Pickett just a month into the 2022 season.

Pickett is now entering his first training camp as the starting quarterback. He was able to train throughout the 2023 offseason knowing he was the starting quarterback. He had a better idea of what he needed to work on and perfect for the type of offense the Steelers would be running. It makes logical sense that he will be able to make a second-year leap, and if he does, there is no doubt the team will see more success as a whole. Adams addressed this and her thoughts on the Steelers making it to the playoffs.

"The AFC is going to be brutal. But I'm getting playoff vibes from these Steelers. Because I always am attracted to the team that it makes sense they are going to take a leap, but nobody is willing to say that. I never thought in all of my years that it would be the Steelers that it would happen too."

Adams went on to express her distaste for the disrespect that is directed towards the Steelers. She continued to talk about how she never thought the Steelers would be disrespected in this way and that the public wouldn't be able to see the potential that is brewing in Pittsburgh. That potential even showed during the Steelers first preseason game on Friday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The starting offense played one single drive and Pickett shined.

Pickett led the offense on an 83-yard scoring drive. He only had one incompletion, going 6/7 throwing the ball with 70 yards and one touchdown strike to George Pickens. He found a way to get every offensive playmaker the ball as Pat Freiermuth, Diontae Johnson, Najee Harris and Pickens all had receptions on the way down the field.

Pickett looked poised, and he was taking advantage of open passing lanes and was not allowing any of the defensive pressure to get to him. If he is able to play like that during the regular season, the Steelers will be making a strong case for winning the AFC North.
