The Pittsburgh Steelers have already been deemed to have the toughest schedule in the NFL for 2024. That certainly doesn't surprise any fan who saw the list of opponents, which includes the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, on top of their own AFC North division. The Steelers always seem to be the team that gets the toughest schedule; after all, how else do you explain playing Tom Brady out of your division nearly every year for nearly two decades?

Like Head Coach Mike Tomlin is fond of saying however, iron sharpens iron. So included in that tough schedule, the Steelers will come up against an old foe, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers joined the New York Jets in 2023 to much fanfare. However, in a cruel twist of fate, Rodgers was only four snaps into his redemption tour when he tore his Achilles, ending the dreams of fans almost before they started.

Now Rodgers will return for his 20th season. The first 18 were spent with the Green Bay Packers, where he engineered the defeat of the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. He is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to take the field.

NFL teams have been participating in Organized Team Activities this month, and the Steelers and Jets are no exception. Pittsburgh fans have been given a surge of hope watching their new quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, throw the ball. Jets fans are no different. After worrying that Rodgers' injury would signal the end of his career, the old gunslinger has shown fans that there is still a reason to hope. While it isn't training camp, Rodgers easily moved around the field

This raises the question of which veteran quarterback will find more success during the upcoming season, which includes Week 7 when the Jets (presumably led by Rodgers) will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers (presumably led by Wilson) at Acrisure Stadium. Both quarterbacks still seem to have unfinished business. When asked in his popular chat column to predict which team would have the better season record, Steelers reporter Gerry Dulac for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette didn't hesitate.

"Steelers," predicted Dulac.

Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Black and Gold as he rides out his gigantic contract from the Denver Broncos, is a Super Bowl winner, like Rodgers. Unlike Rodgers however, Wilson has led his team to two Super Bowls, winning one. Wilson, who is entering his 13th season in the NFL, is widely considered one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL. Despite slowing down thanks to age, he has shown that he can still effectively scramble.

Now, fans of the two organizations, as well as NFL fans everywhere, will get to watch these two exceptional veterans duke it out. Rodgers currently stands at 1-1 against the Steelers and the Jets are at 18-7 all-time. They will compete against each other and many of the best players in the NFL. All the while, they will be attempting to show that they have managed to successfully stave off Father Time at least for one more season.

Steelers Will Hand Russell Wilson The Starting Job

Since the Steelers added Fields to the roster, fans have wondered how the quarterback situation will play out. Why would the Steelers bring in two former starters if they don't plan to allow them to compete? Despite that, Tomlin has said that Wilson will have a "pole position" going into the season, and most media close to the team feel that it will be Wilson's job regardless. Barring significant injury, there is almost zero chance they will start Fields to begin the season.
