In the following year, Allen started 12 times, with a win/loss ratio of 5:7. He then was lured to Washington by fired Carolina head coach, Ron Rivera and appeared in four games in 2020. Two years later, Allen signed up with the Houston Texans, and he played two games, starting two of them. Last season, he did not attempt a pass as the second-string quarterback to the Buffalo Bills star, Josh Allen, who is his namesake. Pittsburgh signed him to a one-year contract in March to be the team's third-string quarterback in the upcoming season.
Up to date, Allen has completed 62 percent of his passes for 4,734 yards with 26 touchdowns and 21 interceptions, and has a 82.2 passer rating. He has a 7-12 record in total while being a starting quarterback. Allen has mostly been a journeyman since then and will compete to be the Steelers' backup quarterback this season as the team's third-string signal-caller behind a QB room that now also includes Wilson and Fields. Steelers' Allen Brings Veteran Experience
In the second string, Allen has been in several powerful quarterback pools. He also stated that having Wilson and Fields as his teammates will make the list of quarterbacks he has played with even longer and better.
