The Pittsburgh Steelers have been involved in the sweepstakes for Aaron Rodgers since the start of free agency, but things took a step forward on Friday when the quarterback visited the facility in Pittsburgh. This is certainly a step in the right direction towards getting a deal done between the two sides, although nothing is set in stone. The fan base has been getting irritated with the charade of waiting for Rodgers to make a decision on his future, but that saga seems like it could come to an end.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin embraces with former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers after a game as quarterback Russell Wilson looks on in the background.

Rodgers has been deciding what he wants to do with his future. The quarterback has considered retirement, while he has also had offers come in from Pittsburgh and the New York Giants. It is unclear when the quarterback will finally make his decision, but insider Dianna Russini reported on Friday that it come soon.

The veteran quarterback is expected to sign a one or two year deal in Pittsburgh, but the bigger factor in the decision is probably more about where the quarterback wants to end his career. Money will play some factor, but Rodgers definitely cares about his legacy and the way things went with the New York Jets probably left a poor taste in his mouth.

Rodgers should be able to have more success in Pittsburgh. The quarterback is further removed from the Achilles injury he suffered in 2023, and the Steelers are a more consistent organization with a better roster. If a deal gets done, Rodgers should be set up for success throughout the remainder of his career.

Pittsburgh will have a great receiving corps for Rodgers to throw to in George Pickens and DK Metcalf, and the offensive line will hopefully take a step in the right direction if the unit is fully healthy. With a decent draft and the signing of Rodgers, Pittsburgh could be set to compete in the AFC, and maybe even get a playoff win.

Steelers Must Get Aaron Rodgers To Make A Decision

The Steelers have had an offer out to Rodgers for a while, but the quarterback has wanted time to make a decision on his future. The 2025 NFL Draft is just over a month away, and the organization will need an answer in the coming weeks. Hopefully Russini's report is correct and a deal can get struck on Friday, as the sooner this fiasco is over, the better.
