The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation remains the biggest storyline of the 2025 offseason. It does seem like Aaron Rodgers is going to end up a Steeler for the 2025 season, and that’s going to be major news when and if it happens. Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, with four MVP awards and a Super Bowl title — one he won defeating the Steelers years ago. Adding a future Hall of Famer to Pittsburgh's quarterback room would be one of the biggest moves in franchise history, despite him being 41 years old now.

Rodgers has had an interesting journey since his time with the Green Bay Packers came to an end. After playing 18 seasons in Green Bay from 2005 to 2022, Rodgers left on sour terms, with tension between him and the organization making headlines. He hoped for a fresh start with the New York Jets, but things didn’t go according to plan. Between injuries and on-field struggles, his time in New York was far from the storybook ending he envisioned.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Rodgers has apparently learned some life-changing lessons from his experience with the Jets. Breer suggests the difficult stretch in New York forced Rodgers to reflect and adjust, both on and off the field. If he does end up in Pittsburgh, Rodgers could arrive with a new perspective and renewed focus — something the Steelers could desperately use in their search for stability at quarterback for the 2025 season.
"Along those lines, I’ve heard Rodgers is looking for a culture such as the one in Green Bay," Breer said. "I get it if that sounds a little strange after the drama of the four-time MVP’s final years as a Packer. But over the past few months, Rodgers has been open with people around him on his renewed appreciation for what he had for 18 seasons in Wisconsin. Call it a grass-is-greener dynamic if you want, but it definitely has felt, to some of those around him, like spending a couple years as a New York Jet made Rodgers view the situation he had more favorably."
Rodgers left the Packers in 2022, and while the reasons were complicated, his departure was defined by growing disagreements and a clear lack of trust between him and the team’s leadership.

Rodgers has always been a polarizing figure, and when he’s unhappy, it creates tension throughout the building. In the end, he essentially forced his way out and left on bad terms. Now, according to Breer, Rodgers has changed his tune.
"While money is always a factor in the NFL, I don’t really get the idea it will be in this particular case, with either the New York Giants or the Steelers," Breer said. "At this point, my sense is that whatever Rodgers decides will come down to what he sees as the best football situation."
Steelers fans and football fans alike are waiting for Rodgers to make his decision. If the choice is between the Steelers and the New York Giants, it feels obvious where he will end up. Despite Pittsburgh’s recent playoff drought and postseason struggles, their franchise is miles ahead of the Giants in success, stability, and culture. That is why many believe the 41-year-old quarterback will ultimately choose Pittsburgh when it is all said and done.
Steelers Are By Far The Most Attractive Landing Spot Left
Rodgers has always valued structure and leadership, two things the Steelers consistently provide under Mike Tomlin. The organization’s track record of stability and competing at a high level year after year makes them an attractive destination for a veteran quarterback looking to make one last run at a championship.

On the field, Pittsburgh offers a strong supporting cast with a talented defense and a young core of offensive weapons. Add Rodgers to that mix, and the Steelers could quickly transform into legitimate contenders. All that remains is for Rodgers to make the call. The Steelers are by far the most attractive landing spot left if the Minnesota Vikings are out on Rodgers.
