The Pittsburgh Steelers should arguably already have a starting quarterback named for the 2025 season. Unfortunately, that is not the case as Aaron Rodgers continues to take his time trying to decide what he wants to do when it comes to his professional football career. It's possible that he retires, signs in the Steel City, or a dark horse team like the Minnesota Vikings could still hypothetically jump in and make an offer. One thing is for sure, however, and that's the fact that the Steelers basically have no other notable options aside from Rodgers, Mason Rudolph or a draft pick.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers stands in front of the media during his introductory press conference in May of 2023 after being traded to the organization.
Drama was stirred up once again on Wednesday when The Athletic's reporter covering the Vikings, Alec Lewis, revealed via a social media post that General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah refused to rule out a partnership with Rodgers.
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah says the Vikings are comfortable with the QB room right now, but wouldn’t say that he’d 100% close the door on Aaron Rodgers depending on scenarios.

Front office members in the NFL are always very calculated with their words. Adofo-Mensah not slamming the door on an offer being extended to Rodgers should spark tons of controversy. Rodgers might be considering retirement, but he also could be heavily interested in a better opportunity that is not currently being presented in Pittsburgh. That would be winning a Super Bowl.
No one can be sure what Adofo-Mensah meant by certain scenarios, but the cryptic and indirect nature of a comment like that can absolutely be interpreted as if Minnesota is still considering making an offer to Rodgers. This would completely derail Pittsburgh's plans of having the future Hall of Fame signal-caller as the franchise's quarterback in 2025.

Another interesting point is that Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell has a healthy relationship with Rodgers, which is one of the main reasons discussions have occurred in the first place. Adofo-Mensah told this to the media when speaking on Wednesday.
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said HC Kevin O’Connell has had discussions directly with Aaron Rodgers due to the relationship KOC has had with him.

Many have criticized Rodgers for taking his time with this big decision, but it is the first time in his career that he is a free agent. He could be waiting until the last possible second just in case a better offer and situation rolls around.
Steelers Could Find Themselves In Difficult Spot If Aaron Rodgers Changes Course
Many believe that Rodgers is going to play in Pittsburgh in 2025, but the veteran essentially has no other options, making his decision-making process confusing. He could be contemplating walking off into the sunset, but he also could be waiting for another opportunity to emerge. Adofo-Mensah's recent words are very interesting, as he could be indirectly telling Rodgers to hold on a little bit longer. The fact that the general manager didn't rule out the possibility should worry Steelers fans.
