The Pittsburgh Steelers have the entire fan base on the edge of their seats as the franchise awaits a decision from Aaron Rodgers. The veteran seems to only have one option if he intends on playing football in 2025, and that is in Pittsburgh. The only other thing to be considering is potentially retiring as the quarterback is 41-years old and two-years removed from a major injury. The 2025 season will likely be Rodgers' last, but Pittsburgh is his best chance if he wants any shot at winning.

As Rodgers continues to take his time making his decision, the fan base will be looking into every single report on the matter trying to get some inkling of an idea of what will happen in 2025. Aside from a potential signing of a contract, Steelers fans got the best news possible on Monday when it was reported that Rodgers had a throwing session with star wide receiver DK Metcalf. The two met at UCLA and threw together, which is not something a player considering retirement would do.
Mark Kaboly discussed this on Tuesday's edition of his show Kaboly and Mack, where his co-host Chris Mack made it seem like retirement was still an option for the veteran quarterback.
"Honestly, I might disagree," Kaboly said. "Him out there and going through some routes and throwing the ball, I think that pretty much, in my eyes, took retirement off the table. Why would he even bother if he is really questioning whether or not he wants to come back? Don't undersell how much he doesn't want to go out on his back, so to speak. Having that bad season or two in New York, the competitor that he seems to be, a guy where would not sit with him very well at all. I think retirement is off the table."
There is no doubt that Rodgers and Metcalf getting together for an offseason workout is a big deal, and it seems like it points to the two playing together in Pittsburgh. Kaboly believes it means there is zero chance the quarterback will be retiring ahead of the 2025 season, and that may be true based off of his actions and how the last couple of years went for him.

Former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers celebrates a touchdown during a home game in the 2024 NFL season.
The host brought up a good point by addressing Rodgers' two seasons with the New York Jets. The 2023 season was cut short due to his Achilles injury, and it was obvious throughout the 2024 season that he was still working his way back from the whole ordeal. He improved as the year went along, and wound up throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns.
The Jets did not win many games, but Rodgers' play was encouraging down the stretch. The veteran certainly has some gas left in the tank, and he likely doesn't want his career to end with a five-win season in New York. Signing in Pittsburgh will give the quarterback a chance to redeem himself, while also getting to suit up for one of the most historical franchises in the league.
Steelers Will Have An Intriguing Quarterback Room With Aaron Rodgers
With Mason Rudolph currently on the roster, the Steelers' quarterback room would be very interesting with and Rodgers leading the way. The ceiling is high for the position in Pittsburgh if Rodgers signs, but the organization's entire season completely hinges on how the 41-year old is able to perform. Rudolph is probably one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league, but it is probably fair to say that fans would be nervous seeing him lineup behind center.

Drafting a rookie quarterback is still on the table for Pittsburgh, as the franchise has shown interest in multiple Day 2 and Day 3 level quarterbacks throughout the pre-draft process. It will be interesting to see if Rodgers signs by the draft, or he waits until after because he wants to see what moves Pittsburgh makes.
