The Pittsburgh Steelers sit in the driver's seat to win the AFC North division in 2025 and control their own destiny entering the final two weeks of play in the regular season. One large contributor to the Steelers' success in 2025 has been veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has been a pleasant surprise for Pittsburgh in his first year as their signal-caller. Rodgers, who turned 42 in early December, has thrown for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season, numbers that rank first amongst all AFC North quarterbacks. In recent years, the Steelers have not had the leader they have now in Rodgers at quarterback, not since the days of the great Ben Roethlisberger.

One big concern with Rodgers coming into the year was his age, as the Steelers have recently utilized a veteran at the position with Russell Wilson, which did not pan out well for the team. In 11 games with Pittsburgh, Wilson threw for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Steelers then went on to lose in the first round of the 2024 playoffs to the Baltimore Ravens 28-14. Rodgers was asked about his age and how he feels this time of the year on Wednesday, and he provided an encouraging response for all Steelers fans.

"I'd say probably the last five or six years, I've kind of Benjamin Button'd this thing, compared to some of the other guys," said Rodgers. "Where guys are just kind of hanging on for whatever reason, I feel stronger as the season goes on. I think part of that is the cold weather. I always say the cold weather slows everybody else but me down."

This is definitely promising to hear for Steeler fans, as Rodgers has been a refreshing change under center in 2025. The Steelers have looked like a more competent offense than in years past in which they had Wilson and Kenny Pickett at quarterback.

This year has felt different, and it even has outsiders seeing a different look and feel in the Steelers. With two games left in the regular season, fans and pundits alike will have a chance to determine if Pittsburgh could actually be the real deal.

The Steelers' Offense Is More Balanced With Aaron Rodgers

The Steelers' offense has been a lot more balanced under Rodgers in 2025, compared to the vanilla offenses they have put on the field in years past with other quarterbacks as mentioned. In their 29-24 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the Steelers received contributions from many players, including Kenneth Gainwell in the passing game, running back Jaylen Warren, and even older veteran wide receivers like Scotty Miller and Adam Thielen. The win on Sunday pushed the Steelers' winning streak to three straight games and they now have multiple different ways in Week 17 in which they can clinch an AFC north title.

Much of the reason behind that winning streak and recent success has been the Steelers' offense. Across those three contests, the unit is averaging 28 points per game.

The Steelers' offense seems to be clicking, which is at a very opportune time as we enter late December and teams gear up for the NFL playoffs. Of course, Rodgers' health was one of the biggest variables when the Steelers signed him before the 2025 season. However, his comments on Wednesday should be met with heavy optimism and positivity amongst Steelers fans. Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, is the kind of quarterback that can take the Steelers further than they have been in recent years in the postseason.
