The Pittsburgh Steelers offense need a jolt, quite clearly. Rookie quarterback, Kenny Pickett was able to provide that in Week 4, as he took over for Mitch Trubisky in the second half. The offense looked promising in the second half of that game despite the loss, but they followed that up with a three-point performance in Week 5.

Calvin Austin III remains on the IR for a foot injury that he suffered in training camp. Picked in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the rookie wideout is lightning quick. In a wide receiver room that has struggled through the first five games, Austin could provide a much-needed piece of energy and speed. After beginning practice last week, his 21-day period to be activated officially began. That means Austin is nearing a return, as Week 5 was a bit too soon.
We still have yet to hear anything about Austin's status this upcoming weekend from head coach Mike Tomlin or anyone else. Just a few days away from the matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he may not exactly be back this weekend. According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, offensive coordinator, Matt Canada and the coaches are still working to figure out a plan for Austin and how to utilize him.
Matt Canada said the Steelers are trying to figure out where Calvin Austin fits in his offense. Missed time is a big factor in whether he has a role at some point this season.

One would think that Austin would be the perfect fit in Canada's gadget offense. At this point, the Steelers offense needs a change. Many believe Canada is the problem and while that may (likely) be the case, he'll likely be here until the end of the season, at minimum. As a result, they have to find a way to put more points on the board.

The Steelers rank 23rd in the NFL in passing offense. A lot of that work has been done when they're down in games as well. Connor Heyward, who has been active all season as the team's third tight end, could be another rookie that plays a large role this weekend with injuries to the team's top two TE's. While it's understandable that the team is still trying to figure out how to utilize Austin, if he's ready, he should be activated. The offense needs that kind of speed, which hopefully would open things up for the guys on the outside.
What do you guys think Austin could bring to a struggling offense? Should they try to rush him back this weekend or wait another week?
