Wide Receiver John Brown, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, was on SiriusXM NFL Radio discussing his recent release as a result of the current cap difficulties teams are experiencing league wide. Brown said he knew his release was coming due to the salary cap decrease and the time he missed due to injury during the 2020 season, but his outlook was extremely positive. He was asked about the prospects of a new team and what he was looking for and the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the Indianapolis Colts, are at the top of his list. Brown described Ben Roethlisberger as "good with the deep ball" and he may be the weapon Roethlisberger needs to reignite that notion as he was near the bottom of the league in yards per attempt in 2020. Brown, also known as "Smoke", is relatively known around the league as a top deep threat. He is usually one of the top receivers year in and year out in yards per reception with a career average of 14.8 yards per reception. His name may not be the biggest but Steelers fans should recognize the name instantly as he has had great success against the Steelers secondary. In the 4 games he played against the Steelers, he averaged 5.75 receptions and 106.5 yards per game. While the Steelers receiver room does not lack talent, Brown may be able to bring the much needed ability to stretch the field, along with a veteran presence to help the Steelers offense shake off the notion they are just a "dink and dunk" offense.
