NFL Executives Rank Minkah Fitzpatrick As Top Safety

A lot of players for the Pittsburgh Steelers have been slept on by the national media over the past few decades, but starting safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is finally getting the recognition he deserves. In an article posted by ESPN, the top executives in the National Football League ranked the best safeties in the league, and Fitzpatrick landed first on their list.

Fitzpatrick, who was acquired by the Steelers in an early season trade in 2019, has done nothing but impress since putting on the black and gold. In 30 games with the Steelers, Fitzpatrick has recorded 9 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 20 pass deflections. Fitzpatrick has also added 3 touchdowns and made countless other plays that have completely changed the momentum of multiple games. He has nabbed two Pro Bowl selections in his first two seasons and has also been named First Team All-Pro twice.

Fitzpatrick was ranked third last year by NFL executives, but claimed the top spot this year and will have a lot riding on him in 2021. The Steelers have already exercised his fifth-year option, but Fitzpatrick will likely be playing for a new contract this season and next. Fitzpatrick will also have to play at a much higher level this year after multiple key players in the Steelers defense left this season. One thing we know for sure is that Fitzpatrick will do whatever it takes to win and will hopefully be a key player on the Steelers defense for the next decade to come.
