Pittsburgh Steelers former cornerback Ike Taylor is back in black and gold. No, not as a player, but he has announced that he will be a scout for the team moving forward. One of the better cornerbacks in team history, Taylor announced it on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday.

It's not unusual for a former player to be at Steelers practice. The likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Ryan Clark, and others have been spotted this preseason for a variety of reasons. Taylor was one of those former players as well, and perhaps this explains why he was there.

Taylor will obviously offer an expertise that other scouts can't: being a former NFL player. It's to be determined whether or not that will help him as a scout, but it shouldn't hurt. Taylor played 12 seasons in Pittsburgh, racking up 151 starts and 17 interceptions. He was apart of those legendary Steelers defenses in the 2000s, helping to two Super Bowl victories in the meantime. Taylor discussed this opportunity with his fellow friend and former NFL punter, Pat McAfee.

"I don't know about [this being] breaking news. I'm just going to let you know that I'll be working for the 'Burgh. Scouting has always been a dream of mine."

Furthermore, Taylor discussed how he was in the Steelers draft room, even during his playing days. This helped him get to see the business side of things even further, more than just being from the player side. That's not something that's too common for active players to be apart of, so it's clear that this has always been his goal for his post-playing days.
