Austin has been dealing with a foot injury since the second week of training camp. He was spotted initially at the Steelers first preseason game wearing a boot on his foot. To this point Mike Tomlin has not detailed what exactly has been nagging Austin.
Last week Austin did some work prior to practice without the boot on. But after losing all that valuable time the team decided it would be best to place him on injured reserve. He will be eligible to return after week 4.

Kazee was injured during the teams final preseason game last Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Making a tackle near the sidelines Kazee injured his wrist which according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette required surgery.
Initial reports from Mark Kaboly of the Athletic claim that Kazee will only miss 4-6 weeks. That would put Kazee on track to return for week 5 when he's eligible.
