Trubisky, Rudolph and Haskins Won't Stop Steelers from Drafting a QB says Colbert

Sunday, the NFL Owners Meetings were held down in Florida and Pittsburgh Steelers general manager, Kevin Colbert, and head coach, Mike Tomlin were in attendance via telephone. They spoke to the media and covered a variety of topics, but none more intriguing than their current quarterback situation.

It's been quite the month for college Pro Days as both Colbert and Tomlin have been busy making appearances at schools, scouting the top talent. It's been apparent however that the Steelers' brass has grown quite found of Liberty's Malik Willis, among other quarterbacks projected to be drafted in rounds 1-2 in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Despite the team recently signing former Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills quarterback, Mitch Trubisky, the Steelers have made it clear that outside of the offensive line, they want to make the QB position a top priority this off-season. It's not something the franchise has had to pay too much attention to over the last 18 years with Ben Roethlisberger at the helm, but it's something that continues to be the main focus this spring, heading into summer:

This brings us to the projected starter in Trubisky, vs. the rest of the impending Steelers' quarterback room. Tomlin made it clear that the team loves Trubisky's upside, but that won't necessarily preclude the Steelers from drafting their future franchise quarterback next month. With Mason Rudolph back with the team for one more season and now no Roethlisberger in his shadow, along with Dwayne Haskins just signing his presumed first round tender, the quarterback competition come training camp should be the most exciting we've seen in Pittsburgh in a long time.

We know that the Steelers have spent informal time with the aforementioned Willis, along with Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback, Desmond Ridder. They're also already very familiar with Pitt's very own, Kenny Pickett. Other quarterback prospect names tied to the Steelers has been Matt Corral and Sam Howell to name a few more. The question is, if any of these quarterbacks happen to fall into the Steelers' laps between the first and second rounds, will the Steelers pull the trigger? I think Colbert is making it pretty clear that the answer is 'yes.'
