Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman, Chris Wormley, was interviewed by the Michigan Sports Network on Thursday about his time with the team so far.
One of the things that Wormley talked about was the time he's had to reunite with one of his old teammates. Devin Bush, Pittsburgh's first round selection in 2019, will be playing defense with Wormley.
“Devin was a freshman when I was a fifth-year senior. He was a pain in my butt then, and when I talked to him the first time again, he’s still a pain in my butt,” Wormley said. “But he’s grown. Obviously he’s heading into his second year, but he’s gonna be a phenomenal player for many years to come, and I’m excited for him to be back there and making plays and getting us in the right position, him being the Mike backer and making most of the communication checks."
Bush led the Steelers in tackles with 108 his rookie season. He tied for second tallying six turnovers with two interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
There are other Wolverine alumni playing with Wormley too. Tight end, Zach Gentry, was taken by the Steelers in the fifth round and only played in four games with the team.
Wide receiver, Amara Darboh, is another Michigan alumni who was selected by the team in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Darboh ended up making the 53-man roster.
“It’s good to be back with those guys, even if for a season,” Wormley said.
As the 2020 season approaches, Wormley is heading into his fourth season in the NFL.
