Steelers 2022 Rookies Discuss Interesting Personal Nicknames, Favorite Movies

author image

The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the 2022 season with a talented rookie class, a group that's crucial in getting Pittsburgh back to the playoffs. Every year, fans get to know a slew of new guys, most of whom will be on the team for a few years and nonetheless, be key contributors. For this year's draft class, a few of the players discussed their nicknames along with their favorite movies via the team's YouTube page.

Nicknames for Steelers rookie class

DeMarvin Leal: Big Marv

Too easy. The Steelers official website has Leal listed at 6'4", 290 pounds.

Chris Oladokun: Okie-Dokie

“If people do give me a nickname, it's usually like Okie-Dokie or something like that so they don't have to say Oladukon.”

Oladukon has to make the team just so we can use this nickname. Even the practice squad. This takes home the reigns as the best nickname of the Steelers' rookies. Also, Oladukon isn't that hard to say, is it?

Wait... Roger? We'll have to find out about that one later.

Steelers George Pickens

Mark Robinson: None

“I don't really have a nickname. That's crazy, I've always said I've wanted to have a nickname.”

This is hilarious, and there's not much you can do with the name Mark. It's early, but any nickname ideas for seventh-rounder Mark Robinson?

Favorite Movie

Robinson: Home Alone series

Leal: Gone in Sixty Seconds

“Favorite car.. 1967 Shelby GT 500... magnificent. It's a beautiful car.”

Kenny Pickett: Wedding Crashers

Connor Heyward: Remember The Titans

Oladokun: Talledega Nights

“I'd say one that I always go to watch is Talledega Nights. Can't get enough of Ricky Bobby. Will Ferrell, he's a classic actor and comedian.”

Again, Oladokun, or shall I say Okie-Dokie, takes home the best answer for this question. He's already itching toward becoming a fan favorite in Pittsburgh. Perhaps, the next Duck Hodges?

Steelers fans, do you have any potential nickname ideas for Robinson? Any criticisms for the selections of their favorite movies? Also, what should Pickett's nickname be? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
