Here comes the new era for the Pittsburgh Steelers! There's a lot of unknowns right now in the Steelers locker room. One of the biggest unknowns is the QB1 spot; will it be the rookie, Kenny Pickett or the veteran looking to create a career comeback story, Mitch Trubisky.
The fans are anxious to find out, but David Carr, from NFL Network, lets everyone know it doesn't matter who the quarterback will be for the black and gold in 2022, Steelers head coach, "Mike Tomlin is going to put together a playoff team."

The panel of Carr, Cynthia Frelund, and Kyle Van Noy were asked the question below:
"How does [the] Steelers offense navigate life after Big Ben [Roethlisberger]?
Carr responds:
"Honestly, Mike Tomlin is going to put together a playoff team. The quarterbacks, it's been a revolving door there, even when Ben was there, sometimes he was in and out of the lineup, and they still found a way to win games. So, I'm not nervous about his defense and what they're going to put together."

Carr continues to discuss the situation at quarterback for the Steelers offense:
"These quarterbacks is where it's at, really, because if you can get just a little bit more consistency, just keep the guys on the field. Mitchell Trubisky is interesting to me, because he didn't have what he wanted as far as the start of his career in Chicago, then he goes to Buffalo, and he plays pretty good with a good quarterbacks coach, a good play-caller, and a good team. So now, it's kind of like, let's bet on yourself a little bit. He's getting the first team reps in camp, he's played pretty well so far in the spring, I get it, but I think I like his chances."

Carr talks about allowing Pickett to grow and learn behind Trubisky:
"Then, with Kenny Pickett behind him learning. Kenny's great, he doesn't have necessarily the big arm, like he doesn't have the Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, kind of just 'wow' you with the shorts on. But what he does is he throws with great anticipation and when I watch him play, it's never too big a moment for him. Like, even the fake slide for me, that shows me a lot. He's not ever in a moment where you know what, the game's out of control, I get it, and I think that's going to be perfect for the Pittsburgh Steelers.I think their fans are going to love him, when he gets his turn. Hopefully, Mitchell is the starting quarterback and they don't have to worry about it for awhile, but I think they're in a better situation, honestly, right now, than they were last year with an aging Ben Roethlisberger."

It's really not that big of a take to say that the Steelers are in a better situation now than they were in a season ago. It's true, 2021 Roethlisberger was just a shadow of the future 1st ballot Hall of Famer that he was, and that just goes to show you that father time catches us all at some point.
I agree with Carr's take on the 2022 Steelers, Tomlin has a good chance of putting together a playoff team. The talent is there, the Steelers just have to allow the quarterback situation to unfold itself to see where this thing can go! Stay tuned!
