On Monday the Pittsburgh Steelers released their official regular season depth chart as we move towards their first game of the season in Cincinnati on Sunday. Several position battles now have clear winners according to the depth chart. One of those being the starting quarterback job, but more importantly to most is who will be the backup to the starter.

Listed as the starting quarterback is Mitchell Trubisky, and his backup will be Mason Rudolph according to this list released by Steelers.com. Rookie Kenny Pickett falls to number three on the depth chart and could now be in jeopardy of not even dressing during the Steelers first regular season game. Most teams only dress two quarterbacks on game day, and Pickett seems to be the odd man out for now.

This decision seems surprising considering the body of work Pickett had during the preseason. He was impressive, and many believed he should be the starter. But instead, the Steelers will go with the veteran in Rudolph. It's possible that Mike Tomlin believes that if Trubisky goes down in-game that Rudolph is the better solution coming off the bench. If Trubisky went down with a long-term injury, they could very well decide that Pickett is the answer.
Steelers Cornerbacks
Cam Sutton, and Ahkello Witherspoon will be the starting cornerbacks on opening day. When a third corner comes onto the field it will be free agent signee Levi Wallace, with Sutton most likely bumping down to the slot corner spot. Witherspoon hangs onto the spot against Wallace after finding significant playing time late in the 2021 season opposite of Sutton.

Steelers Left Guard
Kevin Dotson beat out Kendrick Green for the starting left guard position. Green bumped over from center after the team signed Mason Cole. Neither Dotson, or Green solidified themselves during the preseason, but Dotson wins because Green wasn't much competition.
Other Notables
Devin Bush is listed as a starting inside linebacker beside Myles Jack, with Robert Spillane backing him up. Rookie Mark Robinson is listed as the back up to Jack.
Gunner Olszewski is listed as the starting punt, and kick returner. His back up at both spots is Steven Sims.
